Governance

YMCA England is governed by a National Board of Directors, and there is also a national Housing Committee that advises just on its housing activities.  The people who are on the National Board and Housing Committee are representatives from local YMCAs, and other people who are asked to join because they have special skills and experience.

YMCA England is committed to listening to the residents of our supported housing schemes, and there are residents who also sit on the national Housing Committee, so that they can influence what happens at our schemes, and so that the rest of the Committee hears first hand the views of the young people who live in our accommodation.

All the local YMCAs also have Boards of Management, as they are separate charities themselves.  Our residents are also able to influence matters at the local YMCAs, through a variety of opportunities such as: shadow Boards; Residents’ Committees; Resident Representatives on Boards; Away Days looking at the future plans of the YMCA etc.
