Relationships and partnerships

YMCA England is the national organisation that seeks to support, represent and develop the work of YMCAs based in different towns and communities across England.  Each of the local YMCAs are separate and independent charities, committed to meeting the needs of its local community, and especially the young people who live in those communities.

One of the ways in which YMCA England seeks to support and develop the work of local YMCAs is to develop new YMCA supported housing, to meet the needs of young people.  This accommodation, though owned by YMCA England, is always managed by a local YMCA.  Although this means that YMCA England remains the formal Landlord of its supported housing, it is the local YMCAs who are the ‘Managing Agents’, and it is the staff at the local YMCAs who will have the most contact with our residents.

The 29 different supported housing schemes that YMCA England own, and are managed by local YMCAs are listed here.

There are some 140 local YMCAs in England, and some of these have also developed supported housing for young people, in addition to the housing owned by YMCA England.  Further details of the wide range of services delivered by YMCAs all over England can be found on the YMCA England website.
