Additional Opportunities Available at Horsham YMCA
As part of the support offered by Horsham YMCA residents are encouraged to join in the Personal Development Plan (PDP) during their stay. The PDP gives credit to people for taking steps towards their independence, for example: setting up a budget, saving for a rental deposit and cooking a meal from scratch. The PDP has three levels (Gold, Silver & Bronze) so it can be targeted towards the specific needs of the young person taking part. The PDP is one of the ways we can assess the progress made by residents during their stay at the Y.
There is a very active residents’ activity program run at The Y Centre. This includes activities ranging from a regular art club to larger projects involving other YMCAs like the Inner Journey project. We also run regular social activities with the residents to help them develop their confidence and social skills, the Residents’ Committee help to organise these events.
Homelessness Services Available at HorshamYMCA
Residents from Horsham YMCA are involved in a project called Right Move in partnership with Horsham District Council. The Right Move team have visited local Schools, Colleges and Youth Centres to speak to other young people about their experiences of being homeless and where it is best to go to get help.
The Y Centre is also host to a bi-weekly drop in advice service which is facilitated by the local floating housing support team Signpost.
