backgrounds.

Ryedale YMCA provides temporary accommodation for 16-25 year olds.
We have 14 modern bedsits available for young people. Each resident is assigned a dedicated support worker who will work with the young person to develop an individual support plan; the plan is designed to help the resident move forward and onto independent living. We accept applications from young people in need of housing with support; we try and offer an allocation interview to all applicants so we can make a fair assessment as to whether they meet the lettings criteria.
Ryedale YMCA is not 24 hour staffed and so a careful assessment of needs must be carried out. We accept that applicants applying for supported housing may have additional support needs such including drug or alcohol related problems, mental health issues, learning difficulties, people at risk and many more.

We offer workshops focusing on areas of employment, education and training.
We also run positive activities focused on offering new opportunities and experiences to the young people in Ryedale. These activities can be a day or evening trip to the cinema or bowling or a week away on a tall ship sailing the North Seas.
Homelessness Services Available at Ryedale YMCA
Ryedale YMCA also offers an outreach service – Safe Moves. Safe Moves workers assist young people who are having housing or related problems who live out in the wider community. We work to address the problems in an aim to keep the young person in the family home or, if this is not possible, we work towards a planned move into appropriate accommodation.
Safe Moves work closely with the local authority to address the prevention of homelessness. The work of Safe Moves includes mediation, liaison with local schools, drop in housing advice, referrals to nightstop, benefits advice and much more.
